Wat Phra Singh
This ancient temple, located in the middle of Chiang Rai, is a beautiful third-class royal monastery. Being the third-class royal monastery means it is a temple which is honored and has a noble provost as an abbot. Wat Phra Singh was built more than 600 years ago, and was restored in many eras. Besides its ancient history, the best part of Wat Phra Singh is also the wooden Obosot (the ordination hall) which has Lanna architecture style during the Chiang Saen era. As for the front entrance, it is a wooden door carved by Thawan Duchanee. After a merit-making, it’s time to wander around the temple and see other interesting things, such as the Bell Tower, the replica of Buddha’s footprint, the sacred fig from Bodhgaya, etc. With all these good things, Wat Phra Singh is respectable as the temple of Mueang, Chiang Rai
