In fact, a wildlife watching tour is not only an activity that kids like, but it's also a fun activity for people of all ages, especially those who feel busy and stressed every day. Sometimes, getting back to nature may help you recharge your life and refresh your mind, body, and spirit, particularly seeing the animals that are hard to see in a big city. In this trip, we will take you to see animal centers in Chiang Rai where an animal person should not miss.
Mae Lao Domestic Wildlife Station
"Mae Lao Domestic Wildlife Station" is a wildlife breeding station. It has many animals such as rare species of pheasants. Each of them is as beautiful as the art work tinted and patterned by nature. Moreover, there are various types of wild bears which are the native of the north, rare wild birds, Asian palm civets, porcupines, foxes, etc. Visitors will have a chance to be close to the peacocks or feed the fish. For those who come with children, do not forget to teach them not to disturb animals. Mae Lao Wildlife Station is about 20 kilometers away from downtown Chiang Rai. You can use the same route which goes to Khun Korn Waterfall heading to Mae Lao District (the way to Chiang Mai).
Wat Archan Thong Cave
The steep geography does not only affects the lives of villagers in the area of Srikham , Mae Chan District, but the monks' activities are also different from those monks on the plain. Every day from 7.00 to 7.30 am, the monks will ask for alms by riding a horse for 5 kilometers. The image of the monks on horseback is impressive. And you will also have the opportunity to offer food to the monks. While offering them food, you can see the horse closely. Thus, be very careful not to frighten the horse. Wat Archan Thong Cave is about 43 kilometers away from Chiang Rai. You can take the Chiang Rai - Mae Chan road heading to Doi Mae Salong or Chiang Rai - Mae Sai route. You should arrive before 7 am. There is a parking lot available in front of the temple. You can bring food for the monks by yourself or buy in front of the temple.
In addition to the "Mae Lao Wildlife Station" and "Wat Tham Kae Thong", the animal lovers do not forget to add "Karen Ruammit Village" in the list as well. But, if you do not have enough time to travel, the "Singha Park",which is not far from the downtown area, is a good choice to experience the animals as well.
